Tompkins Choir had three area candidates compete at the Texas All-State Competition Sat. 20. To be an area candidate, these students had to learn and compete advanced, collegiate level repertoire as well as sight-read and excerpt they have never seen in front of a panel of judges at the district, region, and pre-area levels. The top five singers in each section in their region become area candidates. Being chosen to be a part of area is a huge accomplishment, and several Tompkins students were selected. From the students who made it to area, Tompkins Choir had two students be selected to be in the all-state choir and one candidate be selected as a second alternate. Congratulations to the following Tompkins students who were selected as only the top 3 percent of all Texas high school choral students can share this honor.
