Speech and Debate Results

The Speech and Debate Team competed at the NSDA Districts Tournament and TFA State Tournament resulting in National Qualifiers and a State Champion. The results are below.

TFA State:

Tompkins once again received Top 10 Qualifying School in the State with 31 TFA State Qualifications.  21 students participated and half advanced to out-rounds.

Siddhant Puranik – 1st Place in Congressional Debate and 5th in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking

Saanika Halapeti, Sheev Dave, & Guillermo Barbella – 3rd Place in World School Debate

Elisabeth Mathis – Finalist (Top 12) in Congressional Debate

Abhishek Sambaraj – DX

Rehan Rupawalla – Oratory

Vikram Padmanaban – Oratory

Nawal Lashari – Program Oral Interp

Monica Nag – Program Oral Interp

 

Double Octo Finalist (Top 32):

Elysia Wu & Chumeng Wang – Public Forum Debate

 

NSDA Districts:

Rehan Rupawalla – 1st in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking (FX); advancing to the National Tournament in June

Siddhant Puranik – 1st in Congressional Debate; advancing to the National Tournament in June

Byron Xu – Auto Qualifier for placing 8th last year at the National Tournament

Saanika Halapeti & Sheev Dave are still in the running for the World School Team to represent our NSDA District at Nationals

Neha Allada & Varsha Natarajan – 1st Alternate in Duo Interpretation

Saanika Halapeti – 1st Alternate in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking (DX)
