Friday, Feb. 23, the Tompkins baseball team won one game and lost their other. They were victorious against Fort Bend Travis winning 4-1. Later that day they were defeated by Cy Woods 9-3. The Falcons would then go on to win both their games Saturday, Feb. 24. They defeated Fort Bend Dulles 6-4 and beat Cy Ridge 12-4. The Falcons have a record of 3-3-1 on the season.
“Right now we aren’t too worried about the record, the season is still young. We have a lot of room to improve and the quicker we can fix what we can, the better we will be in time for postseason,” said senior Eric Allen.
Even though the team is not blowing opponents out the water the Falcons are playing good. They still have time to fix any changes that need to be made. They are seven games into a long season and in due time the boys will be on a roll to playoffs.
“The team has a lot of talent and tweaking minor adjustments is an easy fix. As the season goes on, the team will get better and we still have a lot of baseball left to play,” said Allen.
They have the talent to be a good team with players that have already signed to play baseball in college. They have to figure out the team’s chemistry and gain momentum to run through the rest of the season.
“I’m excited to see how much we will improve as the season goes on. Sure we will play better on some days than others, but we are focused on making a run in playoffs this year. Our minds are set on the goal and the team is ready to achieve it,” said Allen.
