On May 17, nine students competed at the 2017 Katy ISD Agricultural Mechanics show. During the show of projects, they had a separate competition of the fastest cutter contest with oxy/fuel. Senior Camden Mason placed first by cutting his plate in 14 seconds and his 2-inch pipe in 24 seconds. He won various prizes and $1,250 in scholarships. Senior T.J. Mushovic placed second in the same cutting contest by cutting his plate in 16 seconds and his 2-inch pipe in 30 seconds. Mushovic also won prizes as well as $750 in scholarships. In addition to his second place win in the fastest cutter contest, Mushovic placed second in the Agricultural Equipment class. Senior Maggie Phillips placed second in the Livestock Equipment class. In total the students brought back just over $1,000 in prizes and brought back $3,500 in scholarships to the Tulsa Welding School.
