In the previous game on Sept 3 of 2016, the Falcons faced off against the Beaumont Central Jaguars. It was a tough loss, falling 31-13 to the Jaguars. Following this loss, the football team was on a Bye Week, a time for refocusing and preparation for Houston Heights and the upcoming district play. For the whole week the team has been grinding hard in practice and hitting weights after practice to get an edge on Houston Heights. With help from the JV team, Varsity was able to get a firsthand look at some of the other teams’ plays drawn up by the coaches through film study. Assistant Head Coach Corey Adams is excited and ready for the upcoming games.
“We’ve been working hard and installing new things to throw at Houston Heights,” said Adams.
Adams is prepared and believes the can out with a win. The team has shown improvement and is ready to bring home the win.
“The team has the talent to win. All we need to do is execute and if each player does their job we will win this game,” said Adams.
The team has some amazing goals to accomplish and it would mean a lot to the players, coaches and the school. These goals would be the first time in school history it has been accomplished.
“Our goal is to do well in district play and make it to the playoffs at the end of the year and ultimately make a run at state,” said Adams.
