Desi Naach/ South Asian dance club
“I have been dancing since I was five, and I was really passionate about it, and I was really excited to do something with dance, but I just do not have a way to express myself. I know students here are really invested in south asian culture, Bollywood, and all that, and I found that Tompkins is a really good place to start something so more people can join, and bond over dance together as a community,” president and choreographer Reshika Karnati said.
Mind4Youth/Mental health club
“My friend and I created the Mind4Youth chapter at Tompkins to help people not only in our school, but also in our community, and provide better mental health education and become the best versions of ourselves. During meetings, we have a fun activity to help students destress and hang out with their friends. In some meetings, we have slime; in others, we have fun little games to boost team bonding. We also have volunteering opportunities and educational lectures,” co-president Shreya Karthik said.
Falcon Book Club/Book Club
“We started the Falcon book club because we wanted space to share our love for reading and also connect with people who enjoy books too. During meetings, we usually talk about the book we are reading, favorite characters, plot twists, and themes that stood out. We also do some activities, like games, related to the book,” junior member Sara Wali said.
