Roblox is one of the most played games today. When people think about Roblox, they often recall the memories they created while growing up. Unfortunately, there is a chance that kids nowadays won’t be able to recreate that same experience. There’s been a lawsuit on Roblox regarding minors’ safety, and many have been talking. Fans are wondering if the game they grew up with will even have a future.
For many, Roblox isn’t just an app; it’s a part of their childhood. Kaivalya Kunadharaju, a sophomore, recalls playing Roblox nonstop during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I played Roblox back during COVID a lot. I liked games like Adopt Me and all the Stories with my friends. Since we couldn’t go out, my sister and I spent most of our time playing Roblox. I remember having a lot of fun playing with her.” Kunadharaju said.
Along with her, freshman Apollo Subere also has a strong connection to the game. And has created a lot of memories, “It’s my life. I’ve been playing since 2017, when I got home from school. I just hop on and play.” Subere said. In his experience, Roblox is more than “just a childhood game”; it’s still tied to him now as he continues to grow.
Nevertheless, a dangerous event is still ongoing regarding Roblox’s safety. Many teens and parents are concerned about the outcome of Roblox. “Roblox has rules for players to try and keep people safe, but sometimes, those things aren’t enough to stop bad stuff from happening. People are still being harassed online.” Kunadharaju said. For Roblox to be considered child-friendly, it requires stricter rules regarding age verification and an improved system to protect children.
As significant as the change is, some are concerned that there may be a potential risk of losing Roblox entirely. “I don’t like it. I love Roblox, it’s a part of me, it’s a part of my childhood, and I have a lot of memories from it.” Subere said.
Ultimately, the lawsuit reveals the truth about Roblox and its players. Roblox itself is a source of entertainment where people can come together and have fun, but without stronger protections, it can also put minors at risk. Whether the game remains on the App Store or not, everyone agrees on one thing: keeping players safe.
