Falcon Volleyball Sweeps the Cougars
Tompkins volleyball faced off against Cinco Ranch Friday on Sep 29. The Falcons went on to sweep the Cougars in three games. Tompkins outscored Cinco 26-24 game one, 25-19 game two and finally 25-14 game three. This win gave the Falcons an overall record of 15-3 and 4-2 in district play.
“Coming off a sweep like that against a team that we previously lost in the preseason tournament gives us a lot of confidence moving forward into the season. It gives us momentum going into the next game,” said senior Katelyn Finch.
In order to complete the sweep, the girls needed to keep the intensity and aggression going. The Falcons kept all momentum on their side not giving the Cougars a chance to take the win.
“One of my roles on the team is to keep the intensity up on the court and make sure everyone is playing their best. I need to make sure everyone is giving all they got and not letting up,” said Finch.
To win that game the way they did, the girls had to be firing on all cylinders. Every player had to play their best to come out with the win.
“The team played great. Everyone did what they were supposed to do and we came out on top,” said Finch.
The team has one goal in mind, and will do whatever it takes to accomplish it.
“Our goal this year is to make it to playoffs and be top three in the district. We are going to work hard every day to achieve it,” said Finch.
