Cozy Up for the Season
November 2, 2015
As November and December are quickly approaching, it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to the warm summer months as we welcome the more chilling weather. However fond one may be of the lower temperatures, keeping the dwelling as cozy as possible can be done in a variety of ways. Adding some fall decorations to your surroundings may just create a love for the cool and colorful season and make the cold less dreading.
For an easy and cheap way to add an autumn feel to the house, color is the key; leaf-filled vases in the respective tones can create warmth in a somewhat dull space. Another simple and affordable craft, that can please both youngsters and elders is cutout paper bags with fall designs – just add in a few battery-based candles, and voila.
If properly welcoming your guests is the goal, nothing is prettier than a colorful wreath on the front door or uniquely carved pumpkins. The best part about pumpkins is that they can be personalized for any event; simple drawings or even short inspirational quotes can brighten up the plain vegetable. Another well known idea is to place a scarecrow in the yard, whether it be a friendly or a spooky one.
For the lazier people who just are not made for crafts or do not wish to spend too much money, decorating is still possible. A simple combination of fall colored pillows and cozy blankets in similar colors quickly bring in comfort and warmth to the room. To go even farther, a couple of scented candles can create the perfect atmosphere for the season. If the house possesses a fireplace, the best way to dress up this iconic place for cold weather is to add logs of firewood, either in it or beside it, giving the fireplace an actual purpose.
