The All New Disney movie: Soul

Vanessa Caceres

As many students work on their assignments whether they are at home or in person, the weekends are when students usually get free time and therefore would be the perfect time to binge watch their favorite shows and movies.  The new Disney plus movie called,  Soul, a family/comedy film by Pete Docter, would be enjoyed by all ages, especially young children.

The movie introduces a man named Joe Gardner, who is a middle school teacher that teaches band and also has an amazing passion to play jazz at the club in town. But one misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to the Great Before, a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks, and interests before they go to Earth. Determined to return to his life back on earth, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22 who has never had an interest in living a life on earth. Desperately, Joe tries to show 22 what is great about living, however he just might have revealed some of the answers to life’s most important questions.

The setting takes place in the city that never sleeps, New York City. With its busy streets and people walking on every block it creates a chaotic atmosphere until one day Joe falls through another dimension giving a peculiar vibe.

Well known actors Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey were among the actors who played a fantastic role in this film bringing the whole story to life. Having emotion in a movie is essential to draw all of the attention towards the plot.

The overall message that Soul is conveying is that all of us are meant to have a purpose in this life and there is more to life than just existing but going out and enjoying things one likes to do and live life and enjoy every single minute of it because we never know when the last day will be.

In all words, this movie really shows a different perspective of life and it makes one rethink their life choices and what things we should really care about and to live life to the fullest and to do what truly makes us happy. I highly recommend watching this movie. If you are a fan of movies that tug on your heartstrings this movie is for you.
