Ariana Grande’s latest album “Positions” was released on Oct. 30 and has already reached No. 1 on Hot 100. This has been her third album in the past two years, all of which have reached vast popularity. “Positions” is made of 13 songs, including many collaborations with artists such as Doja Cat, The Weeknd, and Ty Dolla $ign. These collaborations have brought a huge sway of style in this album. Also, Grande worked alongside many prominent producers to help her create this album.
“Positions” revolves around the idea of searching for peace and growth in life. It also brings a sense of giddiness and romance adding a nice touch to the songs. Leading with the song “Shut Up” and finishing off with “POV” provides listeners with an ongoing rhythm throughout the album and ends off strong. The songs “Off the Table” and “Safety Net” give a unique rhythm since her collaborations add a different flow to each of those songs which cause them to stand out in a bunch. “Motive” with Doja Cat also creates a nice rhythm as the two artists’ voice mesh well with each other. The entire album overall flows more of an R&B melody unlike Grande’s past music which has been primarily Pop.
The album also seems like it is introducing a new era of Ariana Grande, a somewhat grown up version as this album is highlighting growth unlike her past music which revolved around her past experiences and love life. Her rhythm has shifted which has gotten people missing her old music, but in reality this simply marked her growth and maturity as an artist.
Although a lot has changed in her new album, Grande’s distinctive vocals remain the same as they have throughout her career. Her unique voice and fluttery nature is symbolized through her music which draws many listeners.
All of Grande’s albums in the past have seemed to be huge hits and listeners expect nothing less of her. “Positions” has seemed to have introduced us to a new generation of her music and viewers are ecstatic to see what she has planned next.
